Wintershow Update & OutsideIN

It is with great sadness that we announce the Wintershow will not be happening this year.

With that, we will be holding our biggest OutsdieIn to date on Dec. 2nd-6pm-Room 505

There will be food and drinks (non-alcoholic) and our in-house ringer, Steve Williams, speaking on his various adventures, accomplishments and conspiracies.

Art Directors Club Awards

All entries, excluding those in the Playground and Design Sphere categories, must have been printed, published, aired, or broadcast live online for the first time between February 8, 2010 and February 6, 2011, in any country. Entries may be submitted by any company or individual involved in the creation or production of the work. Students currently enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs in advertising, graphic design, photography, illustration, and new media are eligible for the competition, and are invited to submit published or unpublished work in any category except the Hybrid, Design Sphere and Playground categories. Student work will be judged separately but by the same criteria and juries as professional work. All student winners will be included in the Art Directors Annual 90. Higher award winners (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) will be included in the New York and traveling exhibitions and in related advertising and promotional materials.

ONE SHOW COLLEGE COMPETITION

The 2010 One Show College Competition offered students a choice between high fashion and high ideals. They were asked to create campaigns for an innovative, internationally sold fashion accessories brand; or rebrand a program dedicated to improving the environment by planting one million trees across New York City’s five boroughs. This year, however, students are being asked to focus all of their attention on ONE brand as they encourage people to support New York City’s poor and homeless. The 2011 College Competition client is City Harvest, and their main mission is to help the 1.5 million New Yorkers currently who live in poverty, and struggle to afford basic necessities like rent, medical costs and food for their families

She’s an ADV alum and the person responsible for bringing in new creatives for the agency whose clients include Mini, Radio Shack, Columbia sportswear and Priceline. AD2SF Issues Call for Entries for Student ADDY Awards

October 18, 2010 – San Francisco, Calif. — AD2SF has issued its Call for Entries for the 2010 AD2SF Student ADDY Awards Competition. The annual AD2SF Student ADDY Awards Competition recognizes student advertising creative excellence in the San Francisco metropolitan market. The ADDY Awards honor advertising excellence in all media, including: print, broadcast, interactive, out-of-home and public service advertising.

All entries must be received by 8:00pm on 1/8/2011 at Kicklabs located at 250 Brannan #100, San Francisco, CA 94107. AD2SF member entry fees are $35 for single entries and $75 for campaign entries. For non-members, the entry fees are $50 for single entries and $90 for campaign entries.

(ALL ENTRIES FOR AAU ADV STUDENTS SHOULD BE TURNED INTO THE DEPARTMENT OFFICE. ENTRIES SELECTED BY ADV DEPT WILL BE PAID FOR BY THE ACADEMY)

A distinguished panel of advertising creative executives will gather in San Francisco, CA the last weekend of January to select the winners. To be eligible for consideration of an ADDY, all work must have been created, published or aired between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010.

Students who submit work to the ADDY competition will be eligible for a free portfolio critique in April 2011 and will also receive information on discounted AD2SF membership rates. Students should visit http://www.ad2sf.org/addys/ for more information.

The AD2SF Student ADDY Awards winners will be honored during a black-tie dinner gala on Saturday, February 26th at the Bently Reserve in San Francisco, CA. Student winners will be able to attend the gala free. Winners of the AD2SF Student ADDY Awards are eligible to compete in the second level of the three-tiered ADDY Awards Competition, the District 14 ADDY Awards conducted in March. The District 14 winners are then eligible for the ultimate competition, the National ADDY, presented in June every year by the American Advertising Federation.

The Student ADDY Awards Competition is sponsored by AD2SF, a member association comprised of young advertising and media professionals. Proceeds from the ADDY Awards help support AD2SF’s educational programs, public service projects and professional and student networking events.

Print + HOW Present Color in Design Awards sponsored by Pantone®*

Entries will be judged on color-focused criteria, including: how the color palette (whether one or multiple colors) enhances the design and how colors used in the piece add to the impact of the design and help to communicate the intended message. Judges will also be looking for innovative color combinations and bold use of color that add to the works appeal. Graphic Design USA: American Package Design Awards*

Metropolis Next Generation Awards*
Metropolis saw the need for a new type of competition, one that went beyond the usual beauty pageants for finished projects, a competition that would generate and reward ideas. Metropolis celebrates the next generation by rewarding imaginative young designers, be they employed by large companies, those striving with their own young firms or on their own, as well as students. For 2011 we are asking for a Zero Environmental Footprint for a GSA building. We challenge you to think about how we work, what we use, how we get where we need to go, hidden costs to our pocketbooks and the environment, across the whole design spectrum. Focus on one area that needs fixingproducts, interiors, buildings, landscape, communication systems, or anything else you can imagineand develop your idea fully, or develop a whole system of fixes.
