Every Summer, The ADVERTISING Club of New York hosts our prestigious summer internship program, affording a select group of undergraduates from across the country the opportunity to intern at some of the leading media and advertising companies in New York City. Areas of focus include: Account Management, Media Planning, Media Buying, Research, PR. Design, Art Direction, Copywriting, Digital and Publishing. EXTENDED DEADLINE: February 11, 2013.

WORKSHOPS: Entering Spring 2013 Competitions

Join the Competitions Workshops on Wednesday, January 23 and 30 from 1-4 pm in Room 311 at 410 Bush St.  Come in and show a director your ideas for the One Show’s Young Ones Competition, ADC YoungGuns, and D&AD Student Awards. Getting an early start is always better than waiting until the last minute.

As a general note, you may enter as many competitions as you like.  The department will cover your entry fees if you show your work to a director and get approval.

ADV498 Illustration for Advertising in collaboration with the Illustration department

In this course, students from advertising and illustration will work collaboratively to develop four illustration-based finished pieces. Students will work in teams to create and engage in a collaborative dialogue that will result in the familiarization of both disciplines’ skill sets, terminology, and the various styles of both.

Hours/ Week: 3: Wednesdays 12p
Cap: 8 STUDENTS FROM ADV 8 FROM ILL

Prerequisites: Department Director approval (OR Post Midpoint MFA for Directed Study

ADV 499 Social Media for Advertising

In this course students will survey advertising across various channels of social media and apply it to three projects. These projects will be executed to achieve specific outcomes—from creating buzz through singular efforts to extending campaigns into social media to creating online channels for conversations using a branded voice.

Instructors: A fantastic AD/CW team from Digitas

Day: Saturdays (830-1120 week 1, 1030-120p weeks 2-15)

Prerequisites: ADV 341 or ADV 267
