Advertising Senior And AAU Recognized For Excellence
Nils Westgardh, ADV BFA senior has received the prestigious 2013 advertising scholarship from The One Club in New York.
Every year, The One Club – “the world’s foremost non-profit organization for recognition and promotion of excellence in advertising,” awards a scholarship to schools where students have shown promise in creative advertising during the past year. A track record of international awards ranging from The One Show to Future Lions and Young Glory made AAU a natural choice for 2013. The Advertising department directors in turn selected Nils as the AAU recipient.
“We hope this grant affords him some ease on his path to pursue his creative dreams, and we know great things lie ahead of him,” said Emily Grotheer, Education Director of The One Club.
Nils’ work has received recognition in the One Show Collage Competition, Future Lions, Young Lions Sweden and the Academy’s own Spring Show. All of which proved instrumental in him snagging a coveted internship at the digital agency AKQA.
When asked what drives him, Nils answered, “I’m a very competitive person so that’s always a very good source of motivation. To work with the best you have to get to that level.”

Brief:
Wild tiger numbers are at an all-time low. We have lost 97% of wild tigers in just over a century. Tigers may be one of the most revered animals, but they are also vulnerable to extinction. As few as 3,200 exist in the wild today.
If the wild tiger population continues to decline at the current rate, recovery may not be possible.

Come up with an idea that will stop the killing. Even saving 1 tiger is significant.
Judge’s Criteria:
Any media of choice. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a big integrated campaign or a small simple execution. Most importantly, it MUST work or show potential of solving this problem.
