It’s not too late to get an internship for Fall. But you need to act immediately. GrowthSTARS is accepting applications for five different internship for credit positions. They’re open to art, copy, and strategy students depending upon the role. Be sure you read the GrowthSTARS job descriptions PDF for full details and how to apply instructions. If you’re offered a position, you’ll also need to enroll in the ADV 500/900 Internship class so make sure you meet the requirements.
We are thrilled to announce the addition of Denise LaBuda as a new full-time faculty member to the Advertising department. Denise will serve a dual role as lead faculty for Creative Strategy, and in business development for Young & Hungry.
Denise is an experienced strategist with brands from Fortune 500 to startups. Her experience has spanned brand advertising, marketing, agency management, analytics, strategy, and more. She began teaching strategy classes with us in Spring and has already become a favorite. We look forward to having her to anchor our strategy program and to help Young & Hungry continue to grow.
She will be holding regular office hours and we encourage everyone (especially strategy students) to stop by and get to know her. Please join us in welcoming Denise!
Congrats to former ADV student Mobolade Ajomale, Academy of Art’s first ever Olympian! After a successful qualifying round on Thursday, he will be advancing to the Men’s 4x100m Relay Finals as part of Team Canada. Read more here.
ArtU is looking for students to offer support to incoming Fall 2016 students as part of our Student Ambassador/Peer Mentorship Program. This is a work-study position that pays $15/hour. To be eligible you will need to be:
- Eligible for financial aid
- Knowledgeable about ArtU
- Helpful, friendly, charismatic
Fall Marketing and Advertising Internship
Redbook Magazine is offering unpaid internships (for academic credit) with the New York Marketing and Advertising Sales team. The goal of this internship is to provide students with behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of a magazine, with a focus on sales and marketing.
This internship would provide students with the opportunity to observe and participate in various aspects of advertising and marketing. Each intern will contribute to a variety of projects including but not limited to:
- Preparing and Updating materials for internal and external client meetings
- Attending internal sales meetings with LA, Chicago, and Texas team members
- Participating in team brainstorming sessions
- Planning and executing special marketing and promotional events
- Prospecting in trade publications and competitor titles
- Completing a final project to be presented to the Redbook publishing staff
Interns will also have the opportunity to accompany a Redbook Account Director on a sales call with a client of their choosing. This opportunity provides students with valuable first-hand experience in the preparation and presentation skills necessary to excel in advertising sales.
- Interest in advertising sales, marketing and/or business
- Eagerness to learn
- Effective communicator
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to earn academic credit
- August 29th – December 9th
