Two students from Young and Hungry, Copywriter Lauren MacNeil and Art Director Priscila Moreno, were recently featured on SFGATE for their documentary about San Francisco Buskers -aka street/subway performers. Their piece focuses on John Bridenbeck, a classically trained violinist who makes his living playing the likes of Mozart, Bach and Vivaldi in the San Francisco subway system–AKA the BART. The short documentary is a pilot episode for “Bartist” a branded content series for the upcoming NO BOX TV network, being developed at Young and Hungry.
After developing the “Bartist” concept, MacNeil and Moreno sought out artists and were happy to find Bridenbeck, who was a very willing subject. After finishing the piece the team sent it to him and he posted it and essentially “Reddit blew up” says MacNeil. From there, SF Gate picked up on it and developed the article featured in the link below. Way to go Y+H ladies!
Hats off to advertising students Visarnpong (Saint) Chateakcharoen and Ei Kakiuchi. The duo picked up a bronze award in the latest round of the Young Glory competition with their entry titled “Life Over” (see below). Young Glory is the 8 part competition that puts out a new brief every month for eight months. It’s a great way to build solid work for your book as well as awesome resume material as you collect awards like these guys did. Still not enough to get you off the couch? Then consider the AAU, School of Ad kids that won the entire 8 month young Glory Competition two years or so ago, who were flown in to the C2 Commercial Creativity Conference in Montreal to pitch their ideas to (SIR!) Richard Branson. Yep….good things happen to people who aren’t afraid to sweat a little. Rock on Saint! Rock on Ei!

Don’t worry, this is not your last chance to submit. Watch for the call for submissions in March and April. If you make big changes to your project before then, you are also welcome to submit your work again.
Goodwill Oakland Headquarters is hiring a Marketing Manager! It is a full-time, salaried position, so they are interested in either need a current student that has night classes or is part-time, or a recent grad. While the office is located within walking distance to Bart, your own mode of transportation to visit sites or pick-ups that are not convenient for public transportation.
In this job you will:
Implement Goodwill’s marketing and development strategies, including internal and external communications and partnerships. Execute Goodwill’s external communication channels including managing Goodwill’s website and social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, while collaborating with other Goodwill departments to maintain a cohesive brand and message. Conduct research and write articles for newsletters, Goodwill’s website, social media, marketing collateral and other collateral for marketing and development. Manage donor and grant database (eTapestry) and coordinate direct mail campaigns. Coordinate with staff and contractors to plan special events. Co-manage internal communications.

We will also go over the guidelines to enter and the briefs for D and AD, the One Club/One Show Student Competition and the Young Glory Competition.
