MUNI Art 2022: Call for Artists!

Here’s your chance to be a MUNI artist and have your work on SF buses all over the city!

SF Beautiful is celebrating seven years of Muni Art and has announced this year’s theme:
“STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO”
Each artist has eight panels to showcase their work which will be installed in 100 muni buses throughout San Francisco

2021 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship!

Check out this amazing scholarship opportunity from The Rose Pak Community Fund, a local organization serving SF’s API community:

 

​What is the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?

The Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based award offered to students of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) origin, who is from San Francisco Bay Area and wants to get an education in preparation for a career in public service. The 2021 Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to five students in the amount up to $5,000 each. The scholarship may be applied to tuition only. We will not accept applications from international or foreign-exchange students.

 

​Who are the Rose Pak Scholars?

​Rose Pak Scholars are API students who have been recognized by the Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship as future leaders in the community. They have the drive to serve the community and have demonstrated leadership potential in the past that in time should enable them to improve the ways that public entities – be they government agencies, nonprofit organizations, public and private educational institutions, or advocacy organizations – serve the public good.

Who is eligible to receive a Rose Pak Memorial Scholarship?

​1. Asian Pacific Islander (API) students who are entering or currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university as an undergraduate in 2021 fall or 2022 Spring semester

2. Students must be from San Francisco Bay Area, a member of the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community, and from a low-income family

3. Priority for applicants who are the first in their immediate families to attend college.

Applicants must demonstrate experience of leadership and an intent to pursue a career in public service. A career in public service is defined as working in an area that will advance the empowerment and improvement of outcomes for low-income communities and communities of color. This can encompass working in a community-based nonprofit organization, the public sector, and elected office.

Hi there, work study over here making an announcement. I’m graduating, so take my job please. 

If you’re eligible (check link below), apply for the ADV/WNM federal work study position! What’s the job like? Glad you asked. 

You will be an Administrative Assistant to the Advertising/Web Design & New Media department. Job duties include: 

  • Writing amazing blog posts like this one
  • Posting on ADV/WNM social media accounts
  • Helping with departmental events, such as One Show Bootcamp and Spring Show

Required skills:

  • Proficiency with Mac computers and basic Mac software (Microsoft office suite for Mac)
  • Ability to quickly learn the department’s organization systems (such as Google docs, Jupiter)
  • Professionalism in customer service and task management

Preferred skills:

  • Photography and social media coursework
  • Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite and video editing

Hours are 10-20 hours a week, you get to create your schedule within the range of 9am-7pm, Monday-Friday. Pay is SF minimum wage.

We’re almost done with the semester! And we have a couple exciting events ahead. We have our annual Spring Show awards ceremony May 26th @ 5pm PST. Additionally we will be hosting a virtual Grad Party May 27th @ 12pm PST, honoring the recent grads and welcoming anyone to attend. Hear from some top grads and alumni. See and socialize with ADV/WNM faculty and fellow grads. Have your moment to shine while the directors read your name aloud. Invite your family and friends!

Multimedia Specialist Job Opportunity at VirTra

VirTra is hiring a Multimedia Specialist. They will be responsible for the design, creation, and management of multimedia deliverables, including video, audio, animation, and graphic design collateral that supports training delivery, marketing, sales, and other corporate communications initiatives. Internship Opportunity at AKQA

Attend the Multicultural Advertising Intern Program Info Sessions Starting on 4/26!

The Multicultural Advertising Intern Program is an internship program for diverse candidates with a paid internship in the advertising industry. The MAIP Fellowship comprises 22 weeks of invaluable professional development experience. Students begin their experience with 12 weeks of Virtual Spring Training led by the industry’s best and brightest.

After completing their training, MAIP fellows are flown to their host agency’s location for a nine-week, full-time, paid internship experience fully immersing them into the industry. In larger regions, fellows also have the opportunity to attend MAIP Labs–professional development seminars hosted by volunteer agencies nearby. Applications open every September.

So what does this mean now? 

MAIP is hosting info sessions starting April 26 @ 5-6pm ET! These are virtual meetings and you can sign up for a session using this link.
