MAIP 2022 Student Applications now open!

 

Attention! MAIP summer 2022 applications are open this month!

MAIP fellows are hand-selected by industry professionals to receive professional development opportunities through virtual training, one-on-one coaching, MAIP labs, and other networking opportunities.

Throughout the 22-week fellowship experience, MAIP fellows:

  • Complete a series of virtual trainings in the spring, designed to prepare them for the advertising/marketing/communications industry and their overall internship experience
  • Intern with one of our partner organizations from June to August (full-time, 40-hr summer internship)
    • Attend evening professional development sessionsduring the summer and participate in MAIP summer projects. Evening sessions are based on Eastern Standard Time.
    • Meet with a volunteer professional (MAIP Coach)for 1:1 professional and personal development conversations

Important note: MAIP 2022 may take place virtually, in-person, or in a hybrid format (to be confirmed early 2022 based on COVID-19 updates).

Rose Pak Scholarship Winner!

The Rose Pak scholarship has officially been rewarded! Rose Pak was a journalist, community leader, and political force who championed affordable housing, quality healthcare, and the preservation of SF’s Chinatown. In her memory, The Rose Pak Community Fund awards merit-based scholarships to college students. This year, Xinying Ren (WNM, M.A.) received a $5K scholarship from the Fund and plans to impact the world by combining Asian and western painting techniques/color theory for all to enjoy. Congratulations, Xinying!

TypeCon 2021 Virtual Conference

TypeCon presents its first-ever virtual conference, TypeCon 2021: Together — October 21st-24th, 2021.

 

The conference program includes two days of talks, followed by our Type & Design Education Forum for educators, as well as a Type Crit on Sunday where attendees can submit their designs for feedback from industry professionals. Recordings of the talks will be available online for attendees to watch following the conference event. You can find more information about each of our speakers here.

About TypeCon:
TypeCon is an annual conference presented by the non-profit Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA), an international organization dedicated to the promotion, study, and support of typography and related arts.Since the inaugural conference in 1998, TypeCon has explored type for the screen, printing history, Dutch design, type in motion, Arabic calligraphy, the American Arts and Crafts movement, experimental typography, webfonts, and much more. Special events include the Type & Design Education Forum, and an exhibition of international type and design.

Young Glory 2021 competition is here!

8 months. 8 briefs. 8 big name judges. Starting now through April, your team will be tasked to complete a different brief each month. Both ADV and WNM students are encouraged to participate – these briefs will help hone skills and creative thinking essential for impactful designs. And the best part: WE WILL PAY FOR YOUR ENTRY FEE!

Fall ’21 Faculty office hours start this week!

 

Fall semester is in full swing and what better way to get into a groove than to meet with your Department Faculty members! Office hours are open for all students and do not require appointments (unless noted) so feel free to stop by during their designated times. Please remember that other students will be attending and it is first-come/first-served…we ask you to be patient and respectful of each other’s time.
