Pets are more than animals for most of us. They’re family. Tragically approximately 7.6 million pets wander off and get lost every year. That means untold millions of broken hearts. Cisco decided to find a way to harness the power of the internet and reunite lost pets with their families.
Cisco will work with local SPCA offices to connect surveillance cameras already monitoring our streets with technology that can recognize and identify pets who pass by.
The pet sighting can then be reported to the databases that already track microchipped pets. C-Tag connected surveillance cameras will automatically detect nearby pets and record the activity.
Because the C-Tag is tied to a pet’s existing microchip, the system can alert a pet’s family as well as the local SPCA, greatly increasing the likelihood of a happy reunion.
